Monthly roll-former maintenance
Checking and adjusting roll-former chain tension, lubricating the chain, and lubricating and checking rollergang spur gears for damage
Operators should make sure the roll-former chain tension is adequate, lubricate the chain, and check the chain sprocket teeth for wear. This is a good time to also check the rollergang spur gears for wear and to lubricate the gears.
WARNING! Remove steel from roll-former and turn the isolation switch Off before proceeding.
Note – tools required: 8mm hex key, 16mm hex key, 16mm spanner (wrench), cabinet key, grease (or silicon spray)
Check roll-former chain tension
1. Unlock and remove panels (right side, Infeed-end and center panels).
2. Move each of the two drive chains up and down at their longest point (i.e, just after the motor gearbox output sprocket). If a chain moves more than 10mm (25/64”), tighten it.

Check roll-former chain and sprockets for wear
While checking the chain tension, inspect the chain and sprockets for wear. If the sprocket teeth are excessively worn, or if the chain cannot be tightened, contact FRAMECAD for replacement parts.
Tighten chain (if necessary)
1. Locate the tensioner for the chain you want to tighten.

2. Use the 16mm hex key to loosen the four mounting cap screws.

3. Use the 16mm spanner to loosen the adjustment bolt locknut. Then turn the bolt clockwise until there is less than 10mm (25/64") of movement in the drive chain.
Lubricate the chain
FRAMECAD recommends operators apply a dab of grease over a length of the roll-former chain. This is especially recommended for machines operating in dusty or dry locations.
NOTE! Always replace panels when finished with roll-former chain maintenance.
Check rollergang spur gears for wear
Open the sliding covers and check for uneven wear on the rollergang spur gears.

If the teeth on a spur gear look excessively worn, the part must be replaced. Contact FRAMECAD support for help.
Lubricate rollergang spur gears
Apply grease or silicon spray to the tops of the spur gears on the rollergang.
CAUTION! Do not allow silicon spray on rollers.
NOTE! If grease builds up on a part over time, you may need to clean it with degreaser and a rag.
