Correcting for bow or twist

Operators can correct downhill bow by raising the shear assembly infeed, and correct uphill bow by lowering the shear assembly infeed or raising the shear assembly outfeed.

NOTE! A maximum tolerance for bow is ± 1.6mm (1/16”) per 2.4m (8’) stick with no tooling operations.

Note - tools required: 8mm hex key, 10mm hex key

WARNING! Turn the Isolation switch Off before proceeding.

How to correct downhill bow (for F235iT)

1. Locate the lip overform assembly (between the flange overform and the printer heads). Use the 8mm hex key to loosen the four adjustment screws so they are no longer in contact with the steel.

2. Remove the Outfeed end cover, locate the shear assembly, and use the 10mm hex key to loosen the four shear assembly mounting bolts.

3. Loosen the outer locknuts. Then use the 8mm hex key to turn the two shear infeed jacking screws ¼ turn clockwise. This will raise the shear infeed assembly.

4. Tighten the outer locknuts, tighten the mounting bolts, and replace the Outfeed end cover.

5. Run two 2400mm (8') sticks and re-measure.

If bow exceeds tolerance, repeat steps.

If bow is within tolerance, tighten the lip overform adjustment screws until the top rollers come into contact with the steel and tighten the locknuts.

How to correct uphill bow (for F325iT)

1. Remove the Outfeed end cover, locate the shear assembly, and use the 10mm hex key to loosen the four shear assembly mounting bolts.

2. Release the lock nuts on the four jacking screws and unscrew the jacking screws until the shear base plate sits flush on the chassis. Tighten the mounting screws again.

3. Locate the lip overform assembly (on the Outfeed end of the flange overform assembly). Use the 8mm hex key to loosen the four adjustment cap screws so they are no longer in contact with the steel.

4. Wind the adjustment screws back down until the rollers are just touching the lips.

5. Lower the top rollers by ¼ turn.

Tighten the lock-nuts and re-check for bow.

If bow is still present, try raising the Outfeed side of the shear assembly.

Raise the shear assembly

1. Loosen the shear mounting screws.

2. Use the 8mm hex key to turn the two jacking screws on the Outfeed end of the shear assembly. Turn clockwise to raise the Outfeed side up by 25% of the measured bow.

3. Tighten the jacking screw locknuts and the four shear mounting screw, power up the machine, then check for bow again.
